Practically every D-sub can be made IP67 compatible, but mainly the most common versions are the density d-sub connectors and the power d-sub connectors. The waterproof seal is made up of a o-ring on the mating side that is made of silicon, and on the back side of the connector a sealing compound made of epoxy prevent water to pass through or next the pins and the mounting parts. IP67 according to IEC 60529, tested by SGS.
Even though the waterproof connector locks a bit different, it is still the same connector and the same specifications apply as for a standard connector. In order to make a completely waterproof connector, a waterproof hood is used from the cable side.
Antenk D-sub connectors utilize an innovative sealing technology eliminating the need to redesign enclosures and PC boards when implementing IP67 design upgrades. These connectors are designed for applications that require protection from heavy spray or are exposed to short-term submersion. Connectors are available in vertical and right angle board mount types as well as solder cup for panel mount cable applications. Standard D-subs are available in 9 pin, 15 pin and 25 pin positions, and high density D-subs are available in 15 pin, 26 pin, and 44 pin positions.
Harsh outdoor or in door environments can destroy electronic equipment. Standard D-sub connectors are not intended to withstand contaminants such as water and dust. These waterproof solder cup connectors are available in male or female genders and DB9, DB15, DB25 and HD15 sizes. They will accommodate wire ranges from 30-20 AWG. Construction features gold plated brass contacts, nickel plated steel shells, and a silicone insulating ring. Maximum recommended panel thickness is 0.078''.
